PeRu

For our year anniversary and because we knew we would never do it once we had kids, we ventured out and went back to Devin's mission.... PERU!!!! This seriously was a chance of a life time. We went back with one of his companion's and his wife, Jeff and Trina Weeks. It was so fun to travel with them...they were a blast. While we were there we took several flight to the different places in Peru. I must say one of the spots I really enjoyed.... was the Jungle. Wow, what an adventure. We also went to Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, & Sacsauhuaman. These places were so amazing. It was so fun for me to see where Devin spent two years of his life. It was definitely an eye opener when I saw how they lived, and what they lived in. It makes you very grateful for what you have. I was so excited to meet all the people Devin came in contact with while he was there on his mission. I came to love all of them and to this day would go back in a heartbeat. I miss them all, they are wonderful people.

Us on Lake Titicaca... the people here live on reed islands that float out on water. Everything is made out of reeds.

Devin and I going down a rock slide at Sacsauhuaman, it is part of the mountain. It wasn't on purpose but as you can see people have used it as a slide. It was a lot of fun.
All of us at Machu Picchu. This is where I did the treacherous hike up Waynapicchu (the big mountain seen behind us in the picture). I don't hike as some of you know, and this definitely wasn't your average hike. To help you picture it, as we hiked up the mountain there were ropes to grab on too that helped pull you up to the next level. It took us an hour and a half to reach the top. I must say it was well worth it once you got to the top. The view was amazing. So round trip up and down the mountain was about 3 hours. I'm glad I can say I did it!

On top of Winupicchu.... What a VIEW... We did it!!!
On our way to the JuNgLe... it took us about an hour to get there in a motor boat.
This was our humble abode while we stayed in the jungle... a.k.a. BUNGALOW. It was pretty fun to stay in, except for the fact there was no hot water... so yeah we showered in freezing cold water, I survived. It made me appreciate my hot showers.
Here we were floating down a river in the jungle. It was a nice little joy ride to take in all the scenes of the jungle.
In the Jungle, getting ready to hike up stairs that circled up the tree. Once you reached the top you could look out over the whole jungle... it was amazing to see so much green foliage, it was almost claustrophobic. (ya gotta love the mud boots we got to wear as we walked through the jungle, although it was very nice to have them).

You might need a magnifying glass to see us. You can barley see our heads at the bottom of the tree. This helps you see how big the trees are in the jungle.
A cute monkey and its baby on her back on Monkey Island. We got to feed all the monkeys bananas as we walked through the island. You had to be careful and watch your back, the monkeys liked to get a free piggy back ride from all the tourists.

A form of TAXI in Peru. It is a motorcycle that is made into a taxi to take people around Peru. We rode in this one. It was a ride of a life time... lets just say I was glad that we made it to our next destination.

Devin and I with some of the people Devin knew on his mission. They all came to the airport to say "good bye", it was so hard to leave... We hope to go back again someday.

Cute blog! I would love to go to Peru. One of the missionaries that baptized Darren was from Peru. He was awesome! And that is a great idea to take a big vacation like that....because after kids it most likely won't happen. This blogging thing is so addicting, so be prepared.
