PuMpKiN SeeDs...YUM

Devin has been craving DRIED PUMPKIN SEEDS. So for family night we decided it would be a fun...or should I say a GOOWEY activity.

an ooowey...goowey...MESS...

but FUN!!!

Only that many seeds from two BIG pumpkins??? I see now why the stores charge practically $5 bucks for a bag of pumpkin seeds that doesn't even contain a 1/2 cup!

If any of you are interested in this fun goowey activity here is the recipe:

2 C. Pumpkin Seeds (wash & dried) In a Sauce Pan Heat: 1 1/2 Tbs. Butter, 1 1/2 tsp. Salt, 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Mix in Seeds...Spread on cookie sheet...Bake for 2 hrs. on 250'...Let dry for 1 hr. (Ps I have to give Devin's sister the credit for this recipe...Thanks Heidi)

We had a fabulous conference weekend!!! Devin and I headed out Saturday morning to my parents house in Park Valley.Devin was planning on planting some tulips for my mom....BUT...got RAINED OUT!!! It was a definite case of when IT RAINS...IT POURS. He was a little sad (if you can't tell by his face) that he couldn't plant the tulips...oh well...there is always another weekend!

The boys had a great time in the rain with their umbrellas...running around and jumping in puddles!

That night Devin decided to change a light at MIDNIGHT that had went out in my moms fan...(most of you are thinking "Pretty easy...Right??") Well not in a fan that is in a high vaulted ceiling in a log cabin. Before we knew it he was hauling in the HUGE double sided ladder to change the light....BUT that wasn't all.....
As you can see he decided to go on a CLEANING extravaganza while he was up there. He had us all rolling as he did his acrobatic moves to clean the logs!
Devin always makes things so much FUN and EXCITING. I thought my mom was going to die laughing that night as she watched him!

We had so much fun and enjoyed lots of luscious food, including... YUMMY homemade CARMEL APPLES

Devin wasn't to sad he had to eat the last one as you can tell!
I managed to get a batch of salsa done in amongst everything else that was going on (as most of you know salsa is a staple in our house... for me anyways). We had a great time watching conference and just being together as a family. Thanks dad and mom for creating such a wonderful place to come back too.

On our way to the Mission Reunion!
Devin's mission reunion is always right before the fall conference, we always look forward to it.
Devin and some of his mission buddies. It's always so fun to see them all reminisce about the mission.

Devin and I with his mission president and his wife... President and Sister Weston. They are an amazing couple!
Afterwards we went to Chili's and ate. I must say as a wife, it is so fun to hear about your husband's experiences while on his mission. When they all get together the stories never stop. It was very enjoyable for Trina and I to sit and listen as they remembered the good times of their mission... (till 2:30 in the morning) We had a great time!

We all SCREAM for ICE CREAM!!!

The other night around 10:00 p.m. Devin and I got a wild hair to make some homemade ice cream.

As most of you know...Devin LOVES ice cream....I guess I should say he loves anything that has SUGAR!!! He could hardly wait to taste it....he was going in for a dip before it was even out of the maker.

We added some Oreos to spruce it up... YUM YUM!!! It was DELISH! (Needless to say this late night snack was well worth it.)

TOMATOES, TOMATOES, and MORE TOMATOES.

It is that time of year to do the fun thing known as CANNING!

I went to my moms this last weekend and did 2 bushel of tomatoes.
The finished product... 42 quarts of tomatoes. Thanks mom for having the perfect set up for canning. It's always so fun to can with my mom and sisters. We had a great time!

JuSt BeCaUsE

I came home from canning and to my surprise found these darling fall leaf plates on my counter with a cute note from my sweet husband.

Devin and I were shopping the other day and I mentioned these would look cute on my plate rack. He then took it upon himself to get them and surprise me. He is such a great husband... Thanks honey for being so wonderful!

A Day That Will Never Be Forgotten

Its been 7 years since America was changed by the tragic day of September 11th.
My heart goes out to all of those who fought for others lives, and who are still fighting this day. Also, to those who are still mourning because of the loss of loved ones.
May we all remember this day and be thankful for our FREEDOM.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

One mans JUNK is another mans TREASURE!!!
We decided to have one more yard sale before the season was over. Between my family and friends, we had 10 people that brought stuff to sell... TRICKY TO KEEP EVERYTHING ORGANIZED??? and ACCOUNTED FOR??? Once all the money was tallied out, everything was accounted for to the penny!
WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!!

PeAcH DaYs

Devin and I enjoyed going to PEACH DAYS after our yard sale that morning!
We had fun WALKING through the CARNIVAL. As most of you know I DON'T do RIDES. I had to take a picture of the ORBIT even though I wanted to throw up looking at it. I rode a similar ride at a fair a few years back... they had to stop the ride for me. It was either STOP the ride or there would be stuff dropping from the sky that wasn't what most people would expect. Needless to say, I AVOID the RIDES!!!

The best part of the night was... THE EXHIBITS. I decided to splurge a little (thanks to our YARD SALE) and get some new decors for FALL and CHRISTMAS! Way FUN!!!
P.S. Did I mention YARD SALES are GREAT!
"OUT with the OLD and IN with the NEW"
(Devin was good to be my shopping cart as I bought all my stuff...Thanks Honey!)

A dAy iN tHe Yard

WEEDS, WEEDS, and MORE WEEDS
We decided to clear all the weeds out of our yard so we can get ready to put in our yard. Three BIG, HUGE, bags later we were done.

A WEED FREE YARD... It wasn't until after I thought I should have taken a picture of all the weeds... at least you can see the finished product.

No more WEEDS... YEA!!! I told Devin, I will be out everyday with my bottle of ROUND UP. I'm not about to spend another day in the 90' weather picking weeds for SIX hours... CRAZY I KNOW! We are glad the weeds are all gone.

LIGHTENING...THUNDER...FIRE!!!!!!!

Our day ended as a storm came in. Devin was outside on the patio when a big bolt of lightening came in and not a sec after that the thunder hit. He ran in the house and said "that hit the mountain," just then we looked out our back window and could see flames.

We all decided to hang out for a little bit, LUNCH, SHOPPING, and attempted to go to a MOVIE (Mama Mia), which didn't happened...the show we were planning on going to got cancelled...DANG! Maybe next time.
We went to CHILI'S for lunch. I think Jacee had a little to much to eat... I'm pretty sure we all were stuffed afterwards...(nice floss'n'toss in your mouth Jace!!!)
Thanks girls for a fun day!
